All I've got is Guard, but I am up for painting anything.

there is a lot of potential with the hellbrute from DV I think we could all take that in so many directions.

@ Krad and Craig,
I think they idea we are shooting for is an inexpensive model that everyone can get relatively easily in time to paint up and do conversions in a month's time plus be able to use in one of their armies. I know it's hard for someone like Krad who only plays imperial forces but maybe you can make an objective marker or a piece for a display board if we end up choosing a model your army does not support.

I think that we have a good spread of models. Considering the factors we're looking for, I think we're leaning towards a model from the fantasy range. I'll start a new post later today with a the top choices and we all can vote our top 3.
If you have another model you'd like to see for voting, post it here. I'll do the new post this afternoon-evening.

Some of the guys don't have the full context of this thread.
Our intent would be to run a painting/modeling contest of sorts that people can post their WIP's and we could follow. The final submission would be at Parkhammer '13 (more info soon) to be voted on by friends and family for a prize of sorts.
A cheap model with conversion possibilities would draw the most people into the contest as they would potentially be able to use it in the end. They also tend to be small, easy to assemble, and could reasonably be completed in a month.
We could expand to larger models and selections later, if this first attempt is well received and supported.
