Decided to put some work into daemons with the 7th ed changes giving them some interesting new options. These guys can serve as allies for the CSM force, summoning fodder for malefic, and as a stand-alone force for B&WB/DaBoyz. Here's a GUO I've started using a fantasy giant for a different profile. Think plague bearer but scaled up. One eye, big sword, asymmetrical horns, and sculpting a gaping maw in the belly. And a daemon prince I've been taking slow to make sure it ends up a great piece. Charybdis head from fantasy, giant and ogre bitz, and some sculpting with white/super glues. Also figured out a use for all these plastic tubes I've saved from replacing cash register tape at work. Glued them down to washers. If I can get back on the horse with 3+ hours a day, they'll be trees for a "Nurgle's Garden" themed table/display board. If I don't, they'll get aquarium plants on top and just be tropical trees. I'll use the same white glue/super glue technique as the spawn/prince skin. Should make a nice bark texture while also mirroring the daemons.

That second daemon prince looks bad-ass. Interested in seeing how the trees turn out as i am planning on doing an daemon landscape board for the Buffalo gt. I was envisioning a knarled tree with sacs hanging from the branches representing the growing plague bearers.

One might drawn inspiration from the realm of Oblivion in elder scrolls:oblivion....or maybe the "Fade" in dragon age
Excellent deamons cant wait to see how they come out.

From tonight: finished sculpting and primed the prince. Did some sculpting on the GUO and started the belly mouth. Feels good to be back in the hobby groove. Just need to start throwing some dice again. Found these guys cleaning too... Old school epic knights from my high school days. Gotta figure out something cool to do with them.

Been painting this week. Decided to work on the DP and went with a white/pallid scheme. To this point, it's been airbrushed and washed. Still need dry brushing, line work, and detailing. I used brown and black oil washes so far. Still plan to add some green, purple, and flesh tone washes to tint the white down a bit.

Getting close! More washes, drybrushing, and some detailing on the diseased areas. He's a weird combination of light and dark so it's hard to photograph well. I'll spend more time getting the lighting and background right when he's finished.

Looking good, only critique is I am not sure how the skull is going to work out - is it a shield on the arm?

Yes. Trophy/shield. I originally wanted a weapon swap that would be suitable for the black mace. Large mace weapons are tough to find so I found the skull/stick on the giant sprue. Wanting to avoid the stereotypical nurgle icons, I figured a skull on a stick would be suitable. And a large skull on the other arm as a shield. Daemons defy physics as is, so they wouldn't need a stereotypical buckler or kite shield to protect themselves. A skull infused with warp energy and possessed by some daemonic spirit can do the job too yes?
I was pondering airbrushing the eyes on both skulls with a radioactive green and OSL to help sell the story. Think that's a good or bad idea?

I like the idea of the skull being a part of the vambrace but I think what Erich means is that it looks like it is just sitting on the arm. What if you cut away part of the skull and then green stuff where the skull and vambrace meet to look like they are fused together. I know it may be too late is everything is glued in place.
Definitely add some green to the eye sockets to give it an other-worldy/mystical look and plastic card is your friend when you need to custom make weapons/armor for your minis.
I am sooo jealous of the wings and wish I had thought of it for my daemon prince.

I agree with grubnards, add the lighting to the eyes, it will help sell your story. Pretty crazy model, man. Certainly a lot more terrifying than a lot of daemon models I have seen. The wings are especially great for a nurgle daemon.

Thanks guys. And I agree about the joining of the skull and bracers. That just may be out of my comfort zone. I'm good with fleshy stuff but mimicking a believable structure is tough for me. If I have the courage to tackle it, I'll green stuff it in and use a brush on primer and paint it in. Here's another project I started after finding a conversion online I wanted to mimic with my own twist. The evil lure of chaos is truly getting sucked in to all the possible conversions that have ever tempted you. Anyways, here's another DPoN in the works. I've dreamt up some fluff for it but I won't bore you with that right now. The basics are he's the head taskmaster in nurgle's garden. My main concern is he's got too much going on, but we'll see once I get the glue sculpting done and some paint on it.

I hear you, I was hesitant about chopping up my heldrake in order to re-position the neck but once I got past the initial cuts it got easier to deal with. Plus you have a pretty good idea of how it will look in your head so I don't see you making any mistakes with cutting and blending. I love all the uses you are finding for the plague flies. I may need to sit down with you to come up with a nurgle daemon prince for my Warriors of Chaos army in the near future.

Love the new Daemon Prince - I have 3 Plague Drones that I got with release but I have never really had a chance to get them together correctly - those legs seem to always wan to op off. Did you just glue them in, or are they pinned in place?
Kevin hit exactly what I mean on the skull - it seemed a little stuck on - especially compared to how well the rest of the model flows. Since you are comfortable with the fleshy sculpting, what about having the skull interated into the actual sarm structure - held in with tendons and bits of muscle?

I have some extra length of necklace chain that I am using for my blood thirster that you can have to use to merge the skull into the vambrace. I think something as simple as attaching a chain to the skull and wrapping it around the arm a couple of times will achieve that effect. I'll bring the chain, along with the nurglings with me this weekend.
