Hey guys, I'm down in NJ attending the Colonial GT. Mechanicon is also going on, along with Flames of War, Warmachine, Infinity and some other stuff. 46 players for 40k and 40 for fantasy. Fun fact, there are 23 Riptides, enough for 1 on each table. 2 of the armies have 4. I've tanked my first two games, but it's been pretty fun. Attachments:

23 riptides between 46 players huh. Man I've still never even faced one yet. Guess I'll have my first chance at the GT.

Fantasy only. I finished middle of the pack 20/40 players with 3 losses and 2 wins. By the time I played my 3rd High Elf/Frost Phoenix army, I figured out what I was doing.
I'll do a wrap up forum post on the event sometime here, but I probably won't do a blog post. Too many wacky things with the event, and I don't want to do a blog post that that will probably come off as highly critical. If it wasn't for really great opponents, the weekend could have easily gone south.

Thanks for the updates - that is a lot of riptides. Are there alot of heavy burst cannons or Ion Cannons?

@calypso probably for your benefit people seem to try and fit one or two ions before getting a heavy burst cannon because the ions with early warning and tracker make for awesome AA with interceptor.

That is awesome, the Heavy Burst are the ones that scare my daemons.

From all the btreps I've seen around, ion accelerators outnumber HBC by about 3:2.
Like I said I haven't faced a single one yet, but here's my thoughts:
They have to decide about overcharge/nova charge at the start of their turn so react in a way that capitalizes on their choice. If they charge a weapon then hit them with ap2. If they charge the shield don't bother wasting shots. If they charge their jump, then make them pay for being out of position.
Remember that buffmanders provide most of their buffs by not shooting in their own phase. This means with interceptor, no twin linking or ignoring cover. And if they intercept, that weapon cannot fire next turn. I think baiting them into intercepting with less buffs will be better than eating a fully buffed shooting phase.
Remember that just because they can use marker tokens to ignore cover, don't just stand in the open. If they use 2 tokens to remove cover, that's 2 less they're using to increase BS or call in missiles.

I couldn't tell you how they were equipped. I only got to walk through the 40k area when all the armies were out once. The whole event was poorly timed so we had rounds starting late, and you wanted to stay near so you could get going. Then there were problems with the hotel (We had 1.5 hours for lunch on Sat, but some of us didn't even get served). The only time I had to walk around is when I got tabled (not really a sign of any super powered Fantasy armies; instead, I am terrible).
