As we get deeper and deeper into 6th edition I am realizing how much has changed. With that, I have finally bought an Aegis Defense Line. I plan on using it to try and protect my vehicles for the most part. Not being fully satisfied with the look of the kit I will be modifying it partly and posting the updates here. For today, I got everything cut off of the sprue cleaned up and assembled. On the quad gun I added a few extra bits. On the gun I added some armor plating to the front to make it look a but more beefy. For the control station I added a sun screen and a joystick. Aka an actual user interface. That's it for now. Next I will probably add some details to the defense line itself. Radios, close some of the firing ports, I dunno what else.

Nice!! I want to start working with plastic card on my projects but have yet to pull the trigger. Maybe i'll test it out when I work on my third terrain series for the blog.

Love the look of the plasticard plating - nicely done!
I have a general Aegis question for anyone that knows the answer. Does anybody know if a dreadnought be used to fire one of these quad guns?

The new rule book FAQ says only non-vehicles can fire emplacements.

Thanks guys.
Grubnards, don't be too intimidated by plasticard. It does not take long to get used to. Just make sure you have plenty of sharp blades and a good metal straight edge. Other than that remember to score not to try and cut right through.

I like the modifications - it really shows where there is some armor that 'ought to be there.' I held off on fortifications for a while until I had a better feel for 6th edition. I would say that they are not necessary, but they can mitigate poor terrain at tournaments and always provide some flexibility.

Liking the conversion btw Konrad. Sometimes we forget that small changes can add a unique flair to an army without having to do massive conversion projects. That's one thing I really like about your army, every model has invidualization by conversion or freehand script. Keep up the good work.

Thanks calypso2ts and hyv3mynd. I try to keep my massive conversion count down. Every now and then I will do one, but they always seem to bog me down. Still sitting on a salamander build that I started in January. With guard I always thought they should look uniform for the most part, but with such minor variations to help add some mild flavor. Not only to stand out within my army, but also against other similar armies.
The aegis seems like it's a good choice because of how adaptable it is. You need to span a gap? No problem. Need to hold an enclosed area? Go for it. It should serve well as an extra layer of bubble wrap.
