So... As something different and fun to do over the holiday I picked up a box of tau battlesuits that I'm going to paint up in a sky blue camo style.
Never having played Tau before and given that I'm about to descend into the realms of madness that is rebuilding a Blood Angels army from scratch (for the third time...) I'm not sure I'll have a use for these models down the line for a long while. Might sell 'em or sommat.
Here's the question: How would one kit out 3 battlesuits and 6 drones?

If possible magnetize the weapons so that you can swap them out and try different builds to see what works best for your playstyle. I like to run plasma/missile pod or fusion/missle pod builds depending on the role you want them to play on the field.
I really don't use drones unless they come with a vehicle. Too many other good things you can use those points for.

The standard tends to be plasma/missile pod. Ocasionally i see a fusion blaster but it is rare.

Fusion if you will be using them. I set mine up for purpose role and dedicate them to that. Missile is good anti vehicle anti flyer spam. Burst cannons can take a toll just with sheer number of shots. I have two units with two Fusion and use them to deep strike vehicles etc. magnatizing the weapons is easy. Put a small magnet in the slot the weapon would sit on. Then counter sink the magnet into the bottom of gun after shaving off the male side of the fitting notch. If you plan to sell then magnetize and paint all guns. It will make it easier to sell.
