Yesterday, Nogle and I faced off in a 8000 point game. 4000 points of Word Bearer nastiness versus Nogle's 4000 points of 30k Anger. While it will take me a while to write up a detailed battle report, here are a few images of the day's events.
Things are about to get ugly.
Face off in the center.
Possessed storm the scouts.
Erebus claims the objective for Chaos!
Flame on!
Termie on Termie Action!
Who is that peeking from behind the spire?
Angron versus Be'lakor - Who will prevail?
This guy looks pretty bad ass!
Scouts take aim.
The Word Bearers advance!
Here is how the table looked before deployment. While it may seem sparse and not utilizing much LOS blocking terrain, I assure you that it was just the opposite.
The following two pics show how both the vegetation, ruins, and other models provided plenty of cover saves throughout the game when looked at from a model's perspective.
Thanks again to Nogle for coming over yesterday. I had a great time and the game swung back and forth many times. After seeing how a large game played out with one side comprised of all 30k units, I do have to say that from a game play point of view I do not think that 30k lists are broken or too hard for 40k lists to overcome. Sure, some of their units have unique weapon formations or special rules but they also have counter balances built in to keep them from being over powered. I'll be interested to see how 30k gets integrated into the 40k universe as GW moves forward with a 30k starter box rumored to be coming soon.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics and look for a full battle report to appear sometime after Adepticon.
