According to jet pack units unless stated somewhere else that are treated as what ever is after it ie Jet Pack MC or Infantry. But it doesnt say anything in there about moving 12 inches... So why do riptides move 12 in the movement phase? have we been doing it wrong for years or with the new 7th ed they changed it from 6th?

They have always been 6" movement...? Probably you just being you, half reading the rules again, kniel...
In all seriousness, the only jetpack units I know of that can are the nurgle plague flies, they are jet pack calvery, so the can move 12" and do the jetpack assault move.

Yeah, jetpack infantry only move 6" during the movement phase. Warp spiders can get a bit more, but that's because of their crazy warp jumps.

Jet pack is a 6" move. The only thing it gives them is the assault jump. The only notable exception to this is warp spiders who get 2d6 +6. Is a riptide actually jet pack mc or is it jump?

Riptides are jet MC. They move 6" in the movement phase and 2d6" in the assault phase. Same goes for crisis suits and stealth suits.
