Yes, but with IA instead of the load out I used at the primer. I found myself outranged by koszka's dune walkers so the change to IA and addition of stormsurge will provide firepower beyond 36".

So I have a question for those who are familiar with my list and how it plays. Garner, Neil, Koszka, Alden.
In adding the stormsurge, I've lost all marker lights in my army. At the brawl this worked out, but I'm not entirely sure at 1850. The best way to add efficient marker lights would be to swap the 6 missile drones in the broadside unit to 6 marker drones, and target locks on broadsides instead of bs2 overwatch. I lose 12 str7 missiles at bs2, twin linked, monster/tank hunter. I would gain 6 marker lights at bs5 twin linked.
The broadside unit loses a lot of punch, but the marker lights would help the bs3 stormsurge and riptide.
Which load out y'all think is better in the long run? I'm not really interested in making any unit changes other than that at this point as I have to fully paint the stormsurge and IA riptide.

The market lights would do waay better for the other units in the army. Target locks would also be better in the long run. Things shouldn't be able to hit you if you use your markers effectively. One nuke unit can kill at most one thing a turn. The volume of fire that just the broadsides can put out can pull things out of charge range, so the extra missiles bs2 overwatch grants are kinda meh. The force multiplier is just better with markers. I use cover extensively, so do many top tier players. The ability to remove it is huge.
Also, markers work on invis, so twin linked markers could win you the game vs invis star shenanigans.

I'm starting to warm up to marker drones. I'm just sad the "shooting deathstar" will go from 36 shots to 24 per turn.
However, the commander's drone controller doesn't benefit missile drones yet boosts markers. So missile drones were firing bs2 t/l and markers will be bs5 t/l. That's prolly 6 marker hits guaranteed.
The way stormsurge works when anchored is he fires twice in the same shooting phase. I'll have to read the wording after work, but if he uses marker tokens on the first shooting attack and doesn't eliminate the unit, his second volley may still benefit. Think 8d6 str5 missiles at bs5, or double str10 ap2 pie plates ignoring cover. The riptide with IA would love tokens to ignore cover too, and y'varha with nova charged haywire cannon and marker lights could 1-shot a knight with a couple unlucky shield saves.

Stormsurge so gonna change the whole feel of the army. I'm really gonna need some practice with it. I think in most cases I'll pray to survive turn 1 and anchor down. Starting 2nd shooting phase, it's gonna cause some apocalyptic damage firing every weapon 2x with markerlight support. It'll be real nice having 2 units that can range the entire table, solving the major issue I had in my game vs Koszka.
More excited for this tau army than I've been for any of my armies, ever. I literally cannot wait to build and paint my triple ghostkeels. They're gonna get special treatment and detailing above and beyond even my usual work. That unit is gonna give people nightmares once they see what I can do with them.

Hvy i think you are loosing out alot by not taking the crisis unit. If you really want your missle drones drop the riptide for the crisis unit. also i would suggest getting an etheral for a 12 inch ldr 10 bubble

Aaron, have you ever used Tetras? They're 35 point Pirahanas, with a heavy 4 markerlight.

Aaron, have you ever used Tetras? They're 35 point Pirahanas, with a heavy 4 markerlight. I actually had a tough choice for Tau forgeworld. R'varna, Y'varha, Remoras, and Tetras were all possibilities but I had to limit it to one choice for our tournaments. In the long run, I'm interested in building a mech outrider themed list with 10 piranhas (2x5) and maybe a max squad of tetras (assuming 5 but haven't read rules). I want to give the second 5 piranhas two seeker missiles each to make a mini squad of pseudo skyrays; 10 seeker missiles to call in a big alpha strike. It's gonna be hard making 1850 lists with all the choices in the upcoming codex. I already have 3 ghostkeels waiting for assembly and paint... that's about 450pts. And the stormsurge is 410 loaded. I even have a 2nd riptide still in the box, been waiting for the highlander craze to blow over. I'll be sticking with Tau for a long time, much longer than the past 3-4 "1 year" armies I've built and played.
