This thread will provide a summary of events occurring in Western/Central New York. At the moment I am not aware of any scheduled 2016 events. If organizers will post or PM, I will get them into the main body of this thread.

Is this thread going to be limited to just 40k/GW events or are you allowing people to post events for other game systems? The past couple of years has seen a big shift in what people play now.

How about a thread for gw and a thread for not. If they are in one thread, more of a chance for mine better than yours comments derailing thread

I actually asked myself the same question. I would like to create a thread for each game of interest/significance. I will make an X-Wing thread, I am not sure on the WarmaHordes scene, but I can create one for that too.

January event is coming up soon. Is there any ideas for that tournament at millennium?

Someone along the way mentioned only 4 tournaments at millennium in 2016. Do we have any confirmation that there is an event in January?

I have not seen or heard anything yet about any events starting next year. My guess is that they are working out their schedule and finding people to run the events.

I do not think there is a January event. If they keep a December event, that schedule would have them in March, June, September and December.
Smitty is not longer organizing, so we may need someone to step up as a TO. Here is what I would love to see as events:
1 - Adepticon Teams Primer 2 - Beef and Wing Primer 3 - 1850 Highlander Style 4 - Escalation w/ 1000 points, 1250 points and 1500 points for 3 games
For December, I would be glad to see it as qualifying individuals get free entry and everyone is welcome to compete for the end of the year crown.

I dunno where Travis stands with everything, but maybe The Grand Strategery as a club should approach him in an open discussion about the current and future 40k schedule and community. If his go-to TO has retired and daboyz have been absent, The Grand Strategery should fill any gaps and roles possible. Beef n Wing are a huge part of the community too, often providing more player support despite being a buffalo club.
My personal desire for formats would be blind to anything but what brings the most players. Our dwindling participation monthly lead us to where we are now, so I'm all about doing whatever would bring the most players back to supporting events. It may be an unpopular format, whatever would bring the most players, but we as a region have been basically forcing highlander on many events and players, and we'll need to make some serious compromises to become more inclusive again.
Y'all know I'll play any format, and the monthly tournament schedule is hugely important to my participation in the hobby. As such, I'll put aside any personal desires for format in favor of whatever format promises to draw the most players.
Seems to me the 'ardboys events always had the most players and most new faces to me. Maybe some events over 2,000 and little to no restrictions? My participation at events last year - I made it to 8 or so - left me feeling that the more comp was involved/scored, the fewer players we had.

I concur on the event that brings the most players is the best. I would be glad to TO one of the events this year. I am TDY from mid April to May, but otherwise I can accommodate anything with enough notice.

I would like to see one set faq be used across wny preferably ITC. But there are alot of issues from this, getting all local stores on board and Da Boyz in the past hasnt used a standard FAQ.

I think ITC has some really good ideas in it. But, letting players vote on something, almost feels like there is going to be biases. My best example, is the Tau Combined Fire rule.

I think we need to figure out ways to bring in new blood into the tournaments. I know rochester has a pretty heathy base pf 40k players. We need to find ways to make the game more accessible and fun for casual players and ween them into the scene.
Maybe we do an apoc event as a lock in event this year. Have the tourney players help run it, and mingle with the more casual crowd. I think people get intimidated by tourneys. We should try and knock down that wall.

I know I am about 918 miles away but the new starter box sets might be a great way to start a league or small tournament format. Sometimes small size events can pull bigger crowds or newer players.
