So I've recently been getting back into Blood Angels in painting, and I thought to myself "Why not a classic colour scheme this time?" Since I started in late December, I've gotten each of a 5 man Tac, Assault, Sternguard Squad, a Rhino, and a single Scout Marine "done". Quotation marks because there are no insignia on the models other than what were molded into the plastic. Wondering if anyone has tips on freehanding those pesky things like company insignia on shoulder pads, or other similar items. I usually end up scrapping them due to shaky edges and whatnot. Would it be worth carving out some sort of stamp?

Your edge highliting is great. I wish i could highlight like that. Very crisp. I have no idea how to help you. But the way you do the highlighting i think you can do the markings great also.

reminds me of the 2nd edition codex. love it. I miss when GW edged the shoulder pads with black trim though.

I remember when that codex came out. Our group of buddies started playing Fantasy in 1995, and we started playing 40k the next year I started a Dark Angel army when the codex came out in '96(I might have 1 model left from that army). I was looking through it the other day looking at the rules for a bunch of special characters that they never made models for.

Ok, I might have been 4. What characters were those?

for blood angels, the first one that jumps to mind is Sgt. Cletean(spelling?) that is the bearer of the shroud that covered Sanguinuis' body when he was taken from Horus' flagship after his death. It's in a stasis field and when the field was turned off, all nearby blood angels went a little crazy. Wouldn't be surprised if he stays gone, with the whole shroud of Turin vibe GW might want to stay away from that.

The edge highlighting really make the models look hot. Good job.
Here's something I've been thinking about when it comes to painting my SpaceHulk Terminators: When I prime the models, I'm going to try priming black from the bottom and white from the top. Layering red on top of that, I hope to get some automatic shading. Especially with expansive areas of red, something like that may help break up the color a little, while still being an easy technique to use.

That sounds pretty cool. Which color would you do first? The white or the black? Need to see how it turns out as I am building my first army in years. Blood Angels. Go figure. Lol
I remember when the Blood Angels and Dark Angels had the same codex. That was my very first army. Many many moons ago. Lol

Black probably, then the white. I think if black was first, it'd drown out the white. You can also do a heavy drybrush with white to pick out all the edges.
