It was good to see that you were able to take advantage of the flight delay and enjoy the weekend. It was also awesome that you were able to get in some combat patrol games in to pass the time. I had fun for my first time going and if I go again I'll definitely space out my schedule so that I have time to wander the demos/vendors. Signing up for an event each day leaves you very little time to take in all that the event has to offer.

Yea man. Glad your unfortunate delay wasn't a total bust. I definitely wanna go next year if I can find a team(don't think the rest of Da wolfpack plan to), I think I would do maybe hordes open gaming Thursday and vendor hall. Maybe x-wing Friday and the team event sat,sun

Inplan on going next year(an accident and house purchase prevented me this year even tho i paid for it) if you wanna form a team of misfits Barring something unexpected I am planning no more children for next year and to go to Adepticon. I would really like to play in the team competition - maybe start planning an army now so I can get to painting.

No way man, your stuff is stellar. His Knight had some really neat frehanding, but I like that your vehicles actually look like they'd make sense.

Hey Eric,
Congrats on the luck!
Read the article and was wondering, what's your opinion on the most overlooked/non-observed/cheating rules? What were the common "oversights"? And what are the things you find easy to forget?

I think a lot can be obscured when bookkeeping is needed to play an opponent. A 20+ WC army can contain a lot of spells, wargear, etc that can confuse people, and often find difficult to know who has what. A geat example was DaBoyz GT in 2013. Aaron played an Eldar player who was playing his spells wrong. It wasn't caught until late in the game since the amount of spells flying out of that unit can be difficult to keep track of ( also, which model has what spell).
I think another oversight is mastery level and the amount of spells you can cast. I found my opponents casting 2 spells from pink horror units in multiple games, as well as daemon princes casting 4 spells a turn.
A lot of WC can also allow players to sneak in extra charges. Due to the dizzying amount of WC an army can muster, some people can only sit and watch as they can't really defend against it. I found our one opponent sneaking 4 extra WC a turn until i made him redo his math.
People's lack of books/resources can also be the cause of a lot of problems. Never playing a lynx before, I had no idea how the model worked. My opponent explained to me how it worked and left out a lot of key information that would've changed the game. He also misplayed how the skyshield worked. Luckily i had my book with me and disproved his belief of the way it should've been played. With the introduction of FW becoming more widespread and the amount of strange dataslates/supplements, this can happen a lot. Knowledge is power.
Slowplaying is still a problem. Craig was about to strangle an opponent due to it. I had a player stop the game with 25 minutes left in the round. Its frustrating.
An odd new cheat are the people who blatantly forget rules, and then make you feel like a jerk when you have to keep telling them about it. It may be small ( IE: dangerous terrain checks, pinning checks against penetrating hits for transports, soulblaze) These are very small rules, but can be a game changer. We lost a game because i forgot to soulblaze a lone plaguebearer on an objective. I understand, these are small rules, but when you have to remind your opponent of them for 6 whole turns it gets really old. I doubt its being forgetful.
Im on the fence considering this cheating, but people who dont use mysterious objectives. That is an element in the game and play an important role, like getting skyfire for an army without it. I had an opponent call a judge on me when i forced him to roll his objectives. He said they slowed down the game and didn't feel like revealing/ playing them in the game. Just so happened he had 3 flyrants and i had zero skyfire ( he only flipped out when i finally revealed a skyfire nexus...)

That's a good point concerning mysterious objectives. I never thought of it that way. Gonna have to think about a bookkeeping method to keep that stuff in check.

Unfortunately, until GW faqs this people will interpret it differently. I've always read it as your mastery level dictated the number of powers you could cast, regardless of the powers that unit/model knows but too many of my opponents played it the other way. Go ahead and Google the subject and you'll find arguments going back and forth on the subject. I now play it so that my pink horrors can cast all the spells they know, as long as I have the dice, so that I am not playing at a disadvantage against someone who plays it differently.
The sad part about this is all GW has to do is update 1 sentence in a FAQ to fix it but as far as I know they have not done it yet.

Well Adepticon FAQ'd it so say you can only cast as many spells as your mastery level.
As for slow playing I like to time the rounds to see how long each person is taking. All smart phones now have a stop watch and a lap option that seperates the time.
