Whipped up a dire avenger this week. I tend to jump around a lot when I'm painting. Still exploring what units will look like after finishing the details. I'm using army builder tufts now as I find them more dense Nd appealing than the GW ones.

I really see how its coming together now glad you decided to paint the face plate what looks like white but it could be a bone or light cream like color can't fully tell on my phone.

Are you planning to keep the black tuft? I actually really like it as a pop of contrast against the rest of the model. He looks very good.

Yeah it's finished except maybe another black wash on the base. They'll all have black crests and white faceplates to match the wraithbone runes on the seers.

Pics of various WIPs this week. Started detailing the spiritseer. Did some work on a jetbike with cannon. Brought another dire avenger up to speed. Now that everything is base coated and mostly based, I can enjoy myself doing detailing which is my favorite. The drawback is its also where I do my worst time management. This phase is what will decide if I finish the army in time, or not.

Those Dire Avengers are looking very nice, as well is everything else. Any progress on your display board yet? Do you plan on basing the jet bike bases as well?

Flight stands are going to remain clear for now, it's pretty low on my priority list.
I picked up a couple packs of cork for the new display board but haven't started it yet. Waiting for inspiration to strike me.

This weeks work. Did the head and some more gems on the big guy. Finished the farseer with a new face plate. And finished my first wraithguard.

I like the theme and distinction that blends the spirit seer and wraith night together.
Also I am totally jealous that what appears to be a simple process is coming out so good.

Though I like my models to look pretty in the end, there's nothing wrong with using a "simple process" along the way IMO.
I firmly believe that people would finish armies much faster and with a collection they are happy with, if they would use an airbrush.
If you print a coupon on the harbor freight website, you can get a silent airbrush compressor and starter airbrush for ~$100. Even if you just use it to apply 2-3 base colors like I do, the amount of time it saves is well worth the money.
Someday I'll get around to doing an airbrushing class, and then a class on how to finish an airbrushed model, but scheduling is challenging between my wife and I working opposite full time jobs and having a young child.

Thats honestly my biggest challenge with airbrushing.. I can use an airbrush well but the after detailing without ruining the airbrushed effect is where I'm stumped

I did not mean anything wrong by it seeming simple. From start to finish it looks great. I am merely surprised at how good it came out since it's a faster process is all I was saying. Nothing wrong with what you did

Spent some quality time with the WK tonight. Not much, just and hour or so. Still it's cool to see how much some black and white highlights bring life to an airbrushed model. If you noticed extra brightness of the recent pictures, it's from a new LED bulb I picked up at Home Depot. It's literally as bright as the sun and its like painting in broad daylight. I highly recommend it for people who never feel like they have enough light.

I will definitely pick up that bulb. I was wondering though, do you use washes?

What is the color profile for the bulb - most of the LED's I have come across are more in the Blue Spectrum rather than natural light.
