I can't get over the freehand work on the Wraith Knight's chest... Well done! I can't wait to see it in person.

Thanks man. For that part, I used a GW fine detail brush. First lines are with 50/50 orange+yellow. Then smaller segments (think NMM technique) with yellow. Then end points and intersections with yellow+white. My inspiration was from Yellow_One on CMON: Mine doesn't even come close to his. Maybe someday with more practice.

Haven't updated in a while. Combination of real life dramas, painting burnout, starting a terrain project, and tackling two tedious models. Finally I finished these fuckers. Gems and all. The blended line work and gems took too long and probably pushed me beyond finishing the army, but I tackled these guys with a drive and I couldn't set them down until they were done. No freehand like the WK and venom, but that prolly won't happen before the GT. Also did some shading, highlighting, and basing on the wraithguard. Basically everything except gems.

Had Goatboy do another version as my wife as a dark eldar in orange to put on a black shirt and play off the most dominant color in the army. And text for the back. Also had him do a banner to put on the front of my display board. Speaking of display board I started building a new one with layers of cork to match my bases better.

I love the style Goatboy brings to his work, there is no mistaking the items he does. the new board is looking good, I assume it is an airbrush job to finish it up?

Yup. About half way through now. If I can highlight it and add grass, I'll call it a night and get back to models tomorrow.

Finished airbrushing the new board with highlights and then a brown wash applied with the airbrush as well. With models to match the bases. Laid out the whole army on the new board so I can see where to add grass and shrubs. Random close ups I snapped while the army was laid out. Still a few unfinished models but now that I've finished the smokin boots table and display board I can spend the next 4 days finishing up.

Wow that's crazy! Here's my razorwing I painted for the 2012 GT last October. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery so color me flattered. Isn't S2P a commission service also? It would be amazing if a commission artist was that inspired by my stuff.

Added grasses and bushes to the display board. Looking at it now makes me want to do some pigment dirt and drybrushing. Took more close ups under the LED painting light this time. If you aren't painting under one of these yet, you'll see your models like you're painting on a bright winter day. Hard to believe I started this army for the painting league at the end of 2011. This venom was one of my first airbrushed models. It's a lot of pics of the same army but documenting the little steps like this is important to me. It's good therapy to look back at how everything progressed. It's also really helpful to me to put the whole army on display once in a while so I can see the progress. It really helps fighting the potential burn out to take down the painting lineup when it starts to look more like homework. I hope to get more mileage out of the army tho I think some of the locals are getting sick of seeing it. Sad to say if I played one game a week with it, it would take more than a year to get game time equal to what I spent painting it. Still... I have 3 really cool army ideas that have been on the drawing board a good while and a stack of store credit calling to me. Part of me can't wait for the next army.

aaron this is one of my favorite armies to play against! use it till you win a GT with it! its challenging(which makes it engaging) to play against, and stunning on the table. Trying to defeat tough armies like this makes us all better gamers.

Aww thanks Craig you made my night. Dry brushed the display board and added pastel pigments. I like this technique for adding dirt. The dry pigment adds texture to the piece and makes it feel dusty.

I really enjoyed playing your earlier variants of this army - it is also so diverse you can really change its character with very few model additions.
This will definitely be one of the top at Da Boyz for painting (and generalship).
