Looking good! Are you planning on doing anything with the Tau Icon on the suits chest? I feel like something to make it pop out from the rest of the armor would make it look cool.

I should. That orange area needs to be broken up. The problem is that shade of orange is a pain to paint over. I'll see what I can do. This week was finishing up fire warriors to go with the devilfish. And here's everything I've done so far. Some portions of each model are still WIP. They look a bit washed out with the primered bases still showing. Once I finish the bases with a different palette, the models will look a but more alive.

Looking sharp so far! are you sponging the damage on? or do you have a different method? I've been looking into battle damage techniques to spruce up my mechanicus projects.

All sponged on now. The first couple models on my old black/white scheme had freehand weathering, but sponges are necessary for doing entire units or armies due to the amount of surface area. It's not an easy effect to pull off realistically. You have to choose your edges and surfaces to weather from realistic wear and tear perspectives to maintain suspension of disbelief.
I should finish up brushwork of this batch today, and possibly airbrush the y'varha weapons and glow. Assuming I finish everything evenly, it should score 7-8 on the brawl rubric with washes, dry brushing, highlights, weathering, basic glow effects, basic freehand, non metal metallics, and gemming. Not sure if my glows, freehands, and source lighting would be enough to qualify for the 8th point.
Next batch is the 5 piranhas and their drones.

For your sponge, did you just break a small piece and attach it to a handle? I've had some disastrous situations with sponges and would love to know your take on prep

No I use one of those pre-made wedge sponge brushes from the hobby store. Black sponge wedge on a wooden handle. Mix of black and rust washes. The trick is blotting the sponge down so it's nearly dry.

Resprayed the kroot last night. A couple people had complimented the old "Avatar" blue kroot, but the only true blue in this new scheme is engine glow, so I decided to go orange. Thus far is airbrushed black, brown, fire orange, golden orange, and off white. Took this model to completion to see if it'll work with the army. Back side to show shading and blending. I'm pretty happy with the final product. It's a bit more time than I'd like to spend on a 6pt model, but I have a pretty small model count. Drones are the last batch of airbrushing, then I need to edge and weather everything and do bases. A new display board is prolly best too.

Pulled the trigger on basing since I can build them while Lucian's playing. Don't trust myself to paint and give him fair attention. Decided to go with just a snow theme, but the bases are built with cork, sea glass, snow, water effects and various painting techniques so they should hit several check marks on the painting rubric. Finished his weapon glows also. Pretty happy with his status as a "centerpiece unit". It's hard to appreciate this model without a 360 view. His jet pack is so massive and guns are so ridiculous, you need to see it from several angles. Group shot with some WIP bases. Infantry have painted bases with sea glass; but no snow or water effects yet.

Progress! Everything is airbrushed now, but lots of highlighting, weathering, and detailing to do still

That army is absolutely fantastic. You bringing these guys to the brawl? I seriously want to see that Riptide on the table.

Yeah it's my brawl army, built for their highlander format. Will prolly expand on it for daboyz this year also.

Rad, the only thing I would change, is the hooves on the fire warriors, to break up the scheme a little bit. Black with Skavenblight Dinge is how I usually do mine.
